~ My Story ~
My personal training story began a little over 2 years ago when I graduated from the New Zealand Institute of Health & Fitness.
Inspired by my experience and love of sports coaching along with my own background in competitive swimming and sports as a youngster, during which I was most fortunate enough to get to train with some of New Zealand's top up and coming NZ regional and national representatives, and be trained by some of NZ's most successful coaches.
With a young family to support on my own as a solo parent of 3 I decided that a career in Personal Training was the way to do this!
As the saying goes "If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life"
Perfectly sums up how I feel about my work in the health and fitness industry.
A career where I was able to not only share my professional knowledge and training in different specialised areas, draw on my own sport and training background as an athlete and also from the other perspective as a coach was a dream come true.
But perhaps most importantly the opportunity to share with others my own successes and relate to my clients on a deep level how health and fitness has allowed me to turn my life around after many years in an abusive relationship struggling with mental health, severe depression, eating disorders and addiction. Exercise was ultimately the treatment that provided me with all the tools needed to make the long term, lasting lifestyle changes I so desperately needed to become the happy, healthy, strong woman and mother that I am today!
A leader, a role model... sharing my own story and the methods, tips and tricks that I have learnt through my own journey to inspire other women to do the same and create their own successful paths to becoming the wahine toa (warrior women) that they have always wanted to be - Not just strong physically, but mentally as well!
My style of training consists of a combination of styles that I have been trained specifically in - including strength and performance training, functional HIIT, kettlebells and free weights, power lifting and women's weight lifting, even incorporating some of my knowledge of the legendary running coach Arthur Lydiard's method of aerobic and anaerobic periodisation from my swimming experience with the NZ great and his training styles.
I have specialised training in postnatal/pelvic floor recovery and deliver a NZ award winning postnatal recovery program, including strong referral systems to WHP as well as some of Wellington's top health, nutrition and massage specialists which are available to all of my clients for a holistic approach to their health and fitness journey.
I pride myself on being able to offer everyone I work with a safe, comfortable, educational and most importantly fun environment and experience while working with me.
